The glam-rock scene of the early 70's gave us some of the most original artists out there. Real one-of-a-kind types. David Bowie. Lou Reed. Marc Bolan. Bolan started Tyrannosaurus Rex in 1967 and released four albums under that moniker until the name was shortened to T. Rex. They were pretty trippy on those early albums. How blasted are you when you name your albums My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair...But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows, or Prophets, Seers and Sages?

Bolan was a good guitar player too and he always showcased it. In 1971, T. Rex released Electric Warrior which featured two singles. The first was "Bang a Gong (Get It On)" followed up by "Jeepster." Guys dig cars and guys dig women. "Jeepster" is another great song that combines the two. Marc Bolan died in an auto accident in 1977, but he left many great songs. Electric Warrior is a good place to start, as is The Slider. If you're looking for a compilation album try 20th Century Boy (1981).

Here is video shot by Ringo Starr for Apple Films from 1972. Some of the footage of these shows in London were used in Bolan's film Born to Boogie.
