There is a brand new eating and music venue that has opened in Illinois which features live DJs playing tunes and when you get hungry they serve food including delicious ramen.

I don't go out very often when it's not for work, so when I do I'm looking for a truly unique experience. I enjoy music, so that kind of entertainment helps. Plus, tasty food doesn't hurt the situation.

There is a place in Chicago that fits that description. It's called Wax Vinyl Bar and Ramen Shop. It just opened this past summer and is located in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago. As far as I can tell, it's the only place in Illinois that features live DJs spinning vinyl and the chefs cooking up ramen in the kitchen.

The concept is modeled after Jazz kissa joints in Japan. They are basically vinyl listening rooms. The owners are big music fans with connections to the industry and they're also fans of good food. When they purchased the place, it was originally a seafood restaurant but they wanted to change that immediately.

Their first step was to bring in talented DJs to spin vinyl to give the place a cool vibe. Next, was the food. They decided to go with a ramen style for the menu but it's not your typical. They put their own twist on it.

It's been a learning process for the owners but they're very happy with how it's going so far. Their goal was to share good music and food with the customers and that's been a success so far. While finding their way, they've been able to tweak things here and there.
