Bad news came a day earlier than expected for fans of high school basketball in the state of Illinois.

The IHSA had planned on having a meeting Wednesday night to address if and when the high school basketball season would begin. The Governor took things into his own hands Tuesday when he elevated basketball from a medium risk sport to a high-risk sport.

While it may or may not be the right move, all of a sudden declaring a sport more dangerous now than you did 2 months ago, is sure to draw criticism from many audiences.

SunTimes - This isn’t the news anyone wants to hear,” Pritzker said. “And it is not news that I want to deliver but this virus remains dangerous and deadly to kids and parents and especially grandparents and this is the best thing we can do for the health and safety of families under the current circumstances. Life in a pandemic is hard for everyone.

Basketball practice was scheduled to start on November 16th with games beginning on the 30th. As of now, there is no start date for either.
