Sure it's great to keep up with the news on weekday mornings and evenings, but there's news happening around the clock and Eyewitness News is expanding to keep the coverage coming no matter what day it is.

There's something different about getting your news from a local source.

Growing up in a Chicago suburb I would listen to the news and it would generally be about someone or something over an hour away from me, Did that matter to me and my family? Maybe, but it's not the same as someone living and reporting in my actual community.

That's one of the many things I love about now living and working in Rockford. The Stateline community feeling is truly here and you can see it every day on WTVO and FOX39's Eyewitness News broadcasts.

And starting this weekend, (April 2) you'll be able to see even more of that local coverage on both stations, as David Greenberg leads Eyewitness News from 6 to 8 a.m. on WTVO and from 8 to 9 a.m. on FOX39 both Saturday and Sunday morning.

I know what you're thinking... didn't you say 11 hours are being added a week Sure did.

Eyewitness News Veteran Anchor Mimi Murphy will also be bringing us the latest headlines weekday afternoons on FOX39 at 4 p.m., beginning Monday April 4.
