Now what are we going to do for a pizza buffet in Rockford?

One of the most redeeming values of Pizza Hut dine-in restaurants was the beloved pizza buffet.

It's been years since I've been to one but I remember them being a smorgasbord of pizza delight.

Well, it might be my last if you can read the pizza-y tea leaves.

The restaurant’s parent company Yum! Brands announced plans to close approximately 500 eat-in restaurants over the next two years as it turns its focus to takeout and delivery.

This will be a nostalgia blow for anyone who remembers going to Pizza Hut for a birthday party or other family function.

Those days are nearly done, any way you slice it.

Pizza Hut operates 6,100 traditional restaurants in the U.S., while the remaining 1,350 are express stores. While the closures will slash its overall number, the pizza company is still raking in the dough.

More pizza puns.

There are four Pizza Hut locations in the Rockford area:

  • 3748 North Main Street
  • 575 South Perryville Road
  • 2560 South Alpine Road
  • 3329 11th Street

This is a developing story when more information is released regarding closures we'll share the news.
