People Are Still Using These Terrible Passwords in 2018
Come on people, it's not that hard to come up with an easy-to-remember password. Just use anything other than "123456." It's just hard to believe that there are still this many people who apparently want to get hacked.
Every year, SplashData goes through the extensive lists of hacked passwords that have been leaked to the world wide web. Each study figures out the most common, easy, and hackable passwords that people are still using.
For the fifth straight year, the two most common passwords are "123456" and "password." Somewhere, a room full of hackers are looking up from their fake Facebook accounts and smiling.
Here are the ten most common passwords:
- 123456
- password
- 123456789
- 12345678
- 12345
- 111111
- 1234567
- sunshine
- qwerty
- iloveyou
Some of the other worst passwords of the year are: admin, football, monkey, password1, and donald. I'm happy to report that America has matured quite a bit in the past few years, the password "696969" hasn't made the list since 2014.
