OUCH! Illinois Named One Of The Worst States For Retirement In 2022
If you're looking to retire any time soon, you might want to change your mind after hearing this news.
Retirement is a time in your life where you're preparing to settle down somewhere and relax with no worries in the world. So, how do you decide where to go?
According to WalletHub, Illinois is actually NOT one of the top states to retire to. Maybe you raised your eyebrows and now scrambling to change your retirement plans, maybe you just said, "Yup, not surprised".
I'm guessing it's because it's an all seasons state, doesn't have many beaches, or taxes are too high. Butttttt, let's find out the real reason!
With a score of 44.27 out of 100, Illinois came in 45th place. 45th? Well, if you look at it this way at least it's not the WORST state... like New Jersey. Sorry NJ..
On the bright side, Illinois is on the top list of Most Theaters Per Capita!
Not to kill the vibe, but Illinois also made the Worst Taxpayer Ranking.. 4th place. Dang.
In other categories, Illinois ranked:
#47 in "Affordability"
#23 in "Quality of Life"
#21 in "Healthcare"
These are huge factors in retirement. You obviously want to be able to afford to live a great rest of your life, have a nice quality life during retirement, and afford healthcare. Illinois just might not be the state you want to retire in.
Obviously there are many other factors to planning your retirement when it's time, but you BET weather is my #1 factor because if I'm not working anymore, I will not be stuck inside for majority of the year because of a snow storm!!! You'll see me sitting on a beach getting that Vitamin D every. single. day!
