Whoa, need a quickie? I think I may have misread the original headline.

At first, I thought it was something altogether different. I'm not going to explain too much but I'll admit my head was way in the gutter when I read the headline "America's Best Cities for a Quickie."

Turns out the folks at Hotwire were talking about the best cities in America for a quick getaway.

Ah, now it makes more sense. Sorry about earlier. I guess I just need more coffee.

Anyway, of course, Illinois would have one of the best cities in America for a quick getaway.

That's because we've got Chicago. How often have you taken just an overnight trip into Chicago?

Doesn't matter where you live in Illinois either. When I stayed just outside the city, in the suburbs, we'd cruise in for an overnight at a hotel inside Chicago.

As an adult, now living over an hour away from the Chicago city limits, my family and I, or just the wife and I, have stayed for a day or two in the Windy City.

So according to Hotwire, Chicago ranked 2nd overall (behind New York City but in front of L.A.) with a "weighted score" of 14.23.

Hotwire looked at value, driveability, and leisure to come up with their totals, and while there might be some who look at a trip to Chicago as something that requires a ton of planning (physically and mentally) a "quickie" can happen any time of day.
