New York Man Legally Changes Name to Darth Vader

One Star Wars fan took his love for the films further than anyone else, buy changing his name to Darth Vader.

I got married a year ago, and can't believe how hard it is to change your name. Alright, so it's not that difficult, but without the necessary paperwork it is! I keep saying one of these days I'll take a day off work and get to the bottom of it... I promise darling husband I will.

But my name change isn't anything out of the ordinary.

A man formally known as Eric Welsh, legally changed his name to Darth Vader.

Darth Vader is 43-years-old, a former Marine, owns a gym and is raising funds online for a bone marrow transplant.

According to WGN, Darth Vader grew up in foster homes and didn't have any ties to his previous name.

He chose Darth Vader because the character carries an aura of leadership and toughness.

I think that's pretty awesome! The force is strong with him, I'm sure of it!
