The City of Beloit City Council approved a big proposed development Monday night, that much we know for sure. What we don't know for sure is who is proposing this development, but all signs point to Amazon.

Let's start with the facts we know for sure. The City of Beloit issued a press release Monday night that said;

A proposed development is in the works in the Gateway Business Park that could bring significant economic impact to the Greater Beloit community.

The Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation approved a Purchase and Sale Agreement and the City Council approved a Development Agreement with Seefried Industrial Properties, Inc. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, in relation to a shovel-ready property on Gateway Boulevard.

“This proposed development would provide our community with increased property value, which will benefit all of Beloit,” said City Manager Lori Curtis Luther.

Additional information will be available upon closing. Should the final stages of the process prove to be successful, a public announcement would occur at the time of closing.

So we know it's something big for Beloit, but here's where the fact-based rumors start. WREX reports;

City Manager Lori Curtis Luther referred to Amazon during the open session portion of Monday’s meeting.

I'm not really a betting kind of lady, but at this point I'd put my money on a new Amazon Distribution Center coming to Beloit with ground-breaking happening soon. There's no word yet on how many new jobs this development will bring to the area, but interested parties might want to doing some research on Amazon employment opportunities now.
