Here in Illinois , we're no strangers to paying hefty taxes and one of them just doubled. Today JB Pritzker is signing several Bills and that is just one of them. The former gas tax of 19 cents per gallon is now going up to 38 cents per gallon. The Gas tax hike is part of their huge 45 billion dollar plan to upgrade, roads, bridges, parks and University buildings according to WIFR.com.

Another part of the bill raised our vehicle registration costs by a whole 50%. Another bill being signed today raises the cigarette tax from $1.98 to $2.98. One more bill for gambling expansion will be signed today as well. All these changes are supposed to help "Rebuild Illinois", which is a plan to fund statewide public works programs and construction. I have another saying for this, it's called being taxed to death and it doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon. Well at least they didn't raise our property taxes again. Knock on wood.
