Halloween hasn't been canceled. Well, not yet anyway.

Come to think of it, if you spread out, it's an easy socially distant thing to do, as long as you include "no contact candy hand out." As the parent who usually stays behind to hand out the candy while my better half walks around the neighborhood with my costumed kids, I could get used to the idea of "no contact candy hand out."

While Halloween and my dreams of never having to hand out candy to kids who don't say "thank you" are months away, it looks like Spirit Halloween is getting ready to open in Rockford.

So it seems that yes indeed, the Facebook post going around in June was completely bogus.

A "press release" supposedly from Spirit Halloween said, "Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, and the lack of international commerce at this time, it is likely that our stores will not be opening for the 2020 season."

It was far fetched then and now, because according to spirithalloween.com, their Rockford location is "planned" to open on August 19 inside the former Furniture Row, 5505 East State Street.

Get your costumes ready because Halloween is still scheduled to happen, for now.
