LOOK! 4 Photos That Prove No State Does Pizza Like Illinois
There's no need to brag, it's a fact. Illinois pizza is the best pizza. These 4 joints had a little more to prove than just being from the best pizza state in the country.
Illinois is the pizza capital of the United States
I don't know if that statement is actually true, but it would be hard to prove it wrong. I've traveled to several states around the U.S. and I often hear people say they've never had pizza as good as the pizza they've had in Illinois.
We're very blessed to be the pizza envy of the other 49 states.
Ok... maybe not New York. They don't envy us much. New Yorkers like to eat their thin slices folded up like a taco and I just can't take that seriously.
Illinois can't just be the BEST, we also need to be the BIGGEST
There are some pizza joints around the state that wanted to achieve another level of awesome and that was to create pizza the size of which very few have seen before.
In my life, I have never seen pizzas like the four you're about to see. If you've ever had to order pizzas for a party, just one of these pizzas may have been enough to feed them all.
One of these pizzas is so big, it almost doesn't fit on the dining room table. And you better drive an SUV if you want to grab one of these to carry out, because it may not fit in your car.
First up is the biggest pie at Galati's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria in Lake Villa, Illinois
They call it The 30-inch Football Pizza
The dimensions are 30" x 14"
Here comes another 30-inch pie from Bacci Pizzeria. They have several locations around Chicagoland.
"Home of the jumbo slice" and a jumbo pie.
We're getting bigger. This next one comes from JB Albertos Pizza in Chicago and it is 452.39 square inches of delicious.
They call this one "The Giant".
The biggest one on the list comes from Mama Mia's Pizza in Rockford.
"The Don" is 32 inches in diameter and the featured challenge for 2 at the restaurant. You get 45 minutes to finish it.
That 'SUV required for carryout' statement I made earlier... it's real!
