I've found it weird that people in the United States are obsessed with crime and serial killers. The scarier the story, the more they're into it. The movies, TV shows, documentaries, books, and more are always top-rated with viewers and readers.

 A 2021 report from Parrot Analytics highlighted how true crime is in five times higher demand than other documentary genres.

 

But America’s obsessive relationship with serial murders spans beyond pop culture and it seems as if these types of cases are almost viewed differently compared to other violent crimes.

Of course this time of year, the month of October and around Halloween, people seem to focus a lot more on evil and horror. The topic of serial killers fits perfectly into that genre.

One Of The Most Infamous Serial Killers Of All Time

One of the most infamous serial killers of all time is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He's been the subject of many articles, movies, and shows. Many true crime fans have followed his story with some becoming fans which I would consider disturbing. I'm talking about Jeffrey Dahmer.

According to crimemuseum.org, 

Between the years of 1978 and 1991, Dahmer murdered 17 males in truly horrific fashion.

 

Rape, dismemberment, necrophilia, and cannibalism were all parts of his modus operandi.

Someone I know who worked for the media in Milwaukee got their hands on a copy of Jeffrey Dahmer's police report many years ago. He shared it with me, even though I didn't really request it.
