Illinois Man Arrested After Discovery Of Hidden Camera In Bathroom
A shocking discovery was made in East Moline when the Police Department received a report of a hidden camera device being located inside a residence.
The device was discovered on October 29, 2023, but it took 8 months to open the protected files.
The recording device appeared to be a functioning charging block for a cell phone charger, and it was found in the bathroom of the residence.
Upon initial inspection, the video files were protected and unable to be viewed. The device was sent to the Mid-States Organized Crime Information Center (MOCIC) to be deciphered.
In June of 2024, MOCIC provided the content from the device in a viewable format. The device contained 240,227 video files.
Jonathan E. Moore Charged
After reviewing the contents, the East Moline Police Department obtained charges on Jonathan E. Moore, a 28-year-old male, for six counts of Unauthorized Video Recording and Live Video Transmission (Class 4 Felony).
On July 2, 2024, the East Moline Police Department, along with the Geneseo Police Department, located Jonathan Moore in Geneseo, IL, where he was taken into custody.
Multiple search warrants were executed in reference to this case. The follow-up investigation will continue to ensure this case is thoroughly investigated.
Moore is being held at the Rock Island County Jail and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
