Walmart Apple Juice Arsenic Recall: Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois
If you recently purchased a six-pack of "Great Value" brand apple juice at Walmart you need to make sure it's not included in this recall.
Hold the Juice! Here's What You Need to Know
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recalling nearly 10,000 cases of this specific apple juice due to elevated levels of arsenic. Yikes! Don't worry, it's classified as a "Class II" recall, meaning it's unlikely to cause serious health problems. Still, better safe than sorry!

What is Inorganic Arsenic:
- Natural Occurrence: Inorganic arsenic is found naturally in the Earth's crust and can enter water, air, and soil through natural processes like volcanic activity, weathering of rocks, and erosion.
- Health Risks: Inorganic arsenic is highly toxic and is considered a carcinogen (a substance that can cause cancer). Long-term exposure to inorganic arsenic, particularly through contaminated drinking water, can lead to serious health issues such as skin lesions, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancers of the skin, bladder, and lungs.
- Regulation and Safety: Due to its toxicity, there are strict regulations on the amount of inorganic arsenic allowed in drinking water and food. The World Health Organization (WHO) and various national agencies set guidelines and standards to minimize exposure and protect public health.
