Wisconsin Teen Uses Family Farm to Create Massive Prom Surprise for His Girlfriend
Ryan Hazeltine of Orfordville, Wisconsin has gone viral for using hundreds of acres of farmland to create one massive promposal for his girlfriend.
When Did Promposals Become a Thing?
When I was in high school, (a couple of decades ago), if someone wanted to go to prom with you, they just asked.
There was no grand surprise of question popping. There was no music, lights, or big signs that asked the question for you. There was just an awkward teen asking a somewhat uncomfortable question that they hoped the receiving party said yes to.
I don't know at what point asking someone to prom turned into a bigger to-do than most wedding proposals, but teens are taking this promposal business VERY seriously, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish it was a thing back when I was in school.
If You Build It, She Will Say Yes
Thanks to everyone sharing everything on social media these days, I've seen A LOT of cute and creative promposals come across my news feed, and they never fail to make me smile.
Of all the promposals ideas I've seen, this Wisconsin teen's creative efforts might just be my favorite, and it is most definitely the biggest one I've ever seen.
According to Ag Daily, Ryan Hazeltine is a Junior at Parkview High School in Orfordville, Wisconsin, which is about 20 minutes southwest of Janesville. Ryan's family owns a dairy and crop farm that sits on several hundred acres of farmland.
As prom season got closer, Ryan had the brilliant idea to ask his girlfriend Abby Anderson to prom by plowing "PROM?" into one of his family's corn fields. It was grand undertaking that Ryan didn't think his Dad would agree to, but he did, and he even offered to help Ryan pull it off.
How To Pull Off A Massive Cornfield Promposal
Creating mazes or designs in massive cornfields usually requires the use of GPS technology, but not for Ryan and his Dad, they just eyeballed the design they envisioned and hopped on board their tractor.
Ready for the big reveal? Here it is...
Isn't that awesome?!?
Ryan used a drone to give his girlfriend Abby a view of the massive question, and of course, she said yes!
Now the only question left is, what will Ryan pull off next year for his senior prom? It's going to be really hard for anyone to top this!
