In most instances, "unremarkable" is a negative word, but in the case of this unusual museum in Wisconsin, "unremarkable" is pretty cool.

Turning Everyday Objects Into Art

You know that saying that goes, "one person's junk is another person's treasure"? Well,  one place in Gays Mills, Wisconsin took that idea and ran with it, big time.

It's called The Museum of Unremarkable Objects, and it's only mission is to "celebrate the ordinary objects we see and use everyday".

Here's just an example...

If you're thinking The Museum Of Unremarkable Objects is just a fancy name someone gave to their artfully placed collection of junk, you are kind of right, BUT both TripAdvisor and Roadside America have it featured on their websites, so it has to be a legit tourist attraction, right?!?

Here are just a few reasons why I think every Illinoisan should make the pilgrimage to see this Wisconsin gem:

1. It'll make you look at your own stuff differently. You know that chipped coffee mug you keep meaning to replace? Or that random collection of buttons in your junk drawer? The Museum of Unremarkable Objects could inspire you to turn your junk into something pretty darn interesting.

2. It's a great conversation starter. Just this morning I said to a coworker, "did you know there is a museum in Wisconsin called The Museum of Unremarkable Objects?" then we had a weird conversation about it.

3. It's a reminder that cool stuff doesn't need to be fancy. In a world obsessed with the latest gadgets and trends, the Museum of Unremarkable Objects is a refreshing reminder that happiness can be found in the simple things.

4. It's a great place to snap unique selfies. I mean how many of your friends on social media have pics of themselves with a big log covered in creepy dolls and a mannequin wearing a Scream mask?

5. It's free AND they encourage you to add your own junk to their unusual collection!

Ready to see this weirdness for yourself? The Museum of Unremarkable Objects is located at 4352 South Sleepy Hollow Road in Gays Mills, Wisconsin. Set that in your GPS and start driving!
