An arrest has been made in connection with the Sunday (1/15) shootings in Rockford that left three individuals dead and two others injured.

According to the press release from the Rockford Police Department, reports of a shooting came in around 4:43 pm on Sunday afternoon at 2311 23rd Street, Apartment 3.

When officers arrived on the scene they determined that gunfire had taken place inside the residence and made contact with three shooting victims that were located in or near the residence on 23rd Street.

A fourth shooting victim took themselves to a local hospital, while a fifth shooting victim fled the scene and was later located in the 4200 block of Middlebury Avenue.

Following an investigation into the incident, detectives from the Rockford Police Department identified one suspect in the shooting who was also reported as one of the shooting victims.

19-year-old Jaylon Jackson of Rockford has been charged with first-degree murder and was taken into custody by Rockford Police. Jackson is currently being held in the Winnebago County Jail, according to the press release.
