Memorial Day Traditions

The way I see it, Memorial Day weekend is meant to be spent wearing your best patriotic clothing, sitting in the sun or on a boat drinking cold beers with those you love best, and ending the weekend at a parade honoring our country's brave service men and women.

My family 100 percent intends to do all those things this weekend, but there are a few other traditions we value each Memorial Day weekend:

Buying and planting flowers in our yard.
Opening our swimming pool for the summer.
Putting flowers on all of our grandparents' graves.
Having a cookout and celebrating family birthdays after attending a Memorial Day Parade.
