Chaos Ensues After Roof Collapses on Madison Grocery Store
Monday night at the Woodman’s on Milwaukee Street in Madison got a little wild after multiple 911 calls came in about a roof collapse and water flooding the store.
Attention Woodman's Shoppers
I don't often shop at the Woodman's in Rockford for two main reasons: I get lost in the store and the crowds get too crazy, but everyone I know raves about these stores.
I may not be well-versed on how to survive shopping at Woodman's but I do know that if a lot of shoppers aren't something you want to deal with, the key is to do your grocery shopping early in the morning or later at night.
Can you imagine walking down the aisles, leisurely shopping at Woodman's then you turn a corner and see something like this:
That is a LOT of water, but where is it coming from? Was it raining that hard in Wisconsin on Monday night?
Flooding at Madison Woodman's Grocery Store
After a round of storms blew through Madison, Wisconsin, Monday night all heck broke loose at the Woodman's grocery store on Milwaukee Street while employees and customers were in the store.
An incident report from the City of Madison Fire Department says:
The Madison Fire Department was dispatched to Woodman’s grocery store on Milwaukee Street, with multiple 911 callers reporting a roof collapse and water pouring into the building. There was also a further report of a smell of smoke in the building.
Thankfully, there was no fire and no one was injured during the collapse, and the Madison Fire Department was able to determine the water pouring into the store was rain that had accumulated on the roof due to clogged drains.
As of Tuesday, the Madison Woodman's on Milwaukee Street is closed until a full inspection of the roof is completed, but you can still order groceries from the other store located on the city's west side:
