2 Illinois Teens Run From Police, One Caught and Bitten By K9
Two teenage boys fled from Rockford Police on April Fools Day after they were stopped in a stolen vehicle where guns were also recovered.
Just before 11 pm on April 1, Rockford PD said their SCOPE team observed a vehicle that had recently been reported stolen from out of Kane County and were able to disable it near 8th Street and 3rd Avenue.

Once the vehicle came to a stop, both of the occupants fled but were apprehended a short time later when Rockford PD utilized the K9 to locate the suspects. One male suspect was bitten by the K9 and taken to a hospital, according to the press release.
While at the hospital being treated for his injuries, the suspect also reportedly kicked a police officer several times.
During a search of the suspect's vehicle, Rockford Police were also able to recover a loaded handgun
Two 17-year-old boys from Rockford now face multiple charges after the incident:
- Male Juvenile, 17
- Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle
- Resisting Arrest Aggravated
- Battery to Police
- Outstanding Juvenile Custody Warrant
- Male Juvenile, 17
- Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle
- Resisting Arrest
Rockford Police said that the "charges are merely accusations and all individuals are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law."
Both of the 17 year-old male suspects were still lodged in Winnebago Juvenile Detention at the time this story was published.
