Top teams from across Illinois put their financial literacy skills to the test in the Illinois Personal Finance Challenge finals, a statewide competition designed to measure real-world money management knowledge.

Held in Springfield, Illinois, on April 14, the event brought together 37 students who qualified from an initial pool of 579 participants.
Naperville Central Claims First Place
A four-student team from Naperville High School, Harsh Patel, Krish Patel, Taran Nathan, and Rohan Jain, secured first place after outperforming nine other finalist teams.

Coached by teacher Michael Borge, the group earned $1,500 Bright Start College Savings Program scholarships per student and will now represent Illinois at the National Personal Finance Challenge in Atlanta from May 31 to June 1.
Strong Competition Across the State
The second-place team from Nequa Valley High School received $1,000 scholarships per student, with other top contenders including the Illinois Math and Science Academy and Monticello High School.
They all advanced through a rigorous competition that featured a case study and a quiz bowl round.
Organizers say the competition helps to equip students with essential skills in earning, saving, investing, and managing risk, which are tools increasingly viewed as critical for long-term financial stability.
