It’s the End of an Era for 2 Popular Rides At Six Flags Great America in Illinois
Two popular rides at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois will be thrilling riders for the very last time this weekend.
I'm embarrassed to admit it has been at least two decades since I last visited Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. It's not that I don't enjoy going there, it's far from that. My daughters are just now getting to the age where they would really enjoy the thrills that Six Flags offers, so we definitely have it on our must-do list.
I have no doubt that when I do finally make it to Six Flags Great America again, I will be amazed by all the new things to do, experience, and see since the last time I was there, and even bigger changes are coming in 2024.
Big Changes Coming to Six Flags Great America
This weekend, October 28 and 29, will be the last weekend for not only Fright Fest 2023 at Six Flags Great America but for two favorite rides as well...
They say all good things must come to an end, and to make room for new exciting attractions at Six Flags, you have to say goodbye to some old ones.
WGN TV quotes Six Flags CEO Selim Bassoul as saying;
We are spending money on ‘hero rides.’ We want rides that are unique, very exciting and do not exist two hours down the road at another park. The next few years are all about big rides. We are bringing some amazing rides that you are going to be so excited about and we’re going to be going back to truly being the capital of thrills around the world.
Well, that sounds pretty cool, right?!?
Bassoul also said plans for an expanded children's area and more themes throughout the park are in the works too.
New Ride Coming to Six Flags Great America in 2024
The only thing anyone knows for sure right now is that Six Flags Great America will be debuting a new ride called the Sky Striker in 2024 and that it will replace Revolution in the County Fair section of the park.
Sky Striker will be a pendulum ride like Revolution is, but it will be bigger and take rides 172 feet in the air!
