A woman who is six months pregnant in Illinois is recovering in the hospital after being run over by carjackers who stole her car while her 2-year-old son was still inside.
Never in a million years would I want this to happen to anybody. This sounds like one of the most horrifying moments of a parent's life.
Pregnant Illinois Woman Run Over By Car Trying To Save Son In Carjacking
A mother, from Libertyville, Illinois, was taking one of her kids inside their house from the car and then the unthinkable happened. A white BMW pulled up behind her car and the passenger attempted to carjack the woman's vehicle.
The suspect assaulted the woman, knocked her to the ground, and then fled with the 2-year-old child still in the car. As they were pulling away, one of the carjackers ran over the woman with their car, causing severe injuries.
Fortunately, the woman managed to call 911 and discovered the men abandoned her toddler in a parking lot. A person inside a nearby business found the boy and saved him from wandering into traffic.
The news that her child is safe is wonderful because it definitely could have ended badly for both the child and mother.
The woman is currently in the hospital in serious but stable condition, but the men are still at large. The VW was later found abandoned in a parking lot.
