Popular Illinois Restaurant Opens for the First Time Since 2020

In the past few years, we've seen a lot of restaurants re-open after the pandemic, except one, and it's finally opening its doors this weekend.

Talk about bad timing for me to be out of town!

This weekend is our annual Chicago Bears tailgate trip for my family, so I've been booked in Chicago for months, but I tell you, I wish I had time to stay here in Rockford, too.

This Saturday, a new event is taking over downtown Rockford. It's called 'River District Santa Hop!' and it looks like it will be a super fun way to really get in the Christmas spirit in Rockford.

There are so many businesses opening their doors to customers all day and night with special performances, food and drinks, and there's one restaurant opening their doors for the first time in TWO YEARS.

Yes, let that sink in.

Remember 2020? I know, I try to forget it too... every restaurant we love had to close up for months and some of them just didn't reopen.

One of those was Social Urban Bar & Restaurant.

But this weekend, Social is opening.

They posted on Facebook December 13 'Barkeep, I'll have a Blue Bourbon please,' and the internet jumped for joy.

Well, they shared and commented.

Social will be open for 'SantaHop Speakeasy,' from 8pm until 2am for the first time in over two years.
