Too terrifying, too bloody, too demonic, too disgusting, too disturbing. Those are a few words used to describe these movies you should be careful watching if you want to ever regain your once peaceful soul.

Like any other art, movies are subjective, what scares you, might be a bloody comedy to someone else. We all have something different that terrifies us. One thing seems to be common with one particular kind of scary movie that affects us in some lasting ways.

It's the movies that seem like they could happen in real life that leave permanent marks on our souls.

97ZOK's Steve Shannon Show asked for the movies that you watched that were so horrific (in some way) that you could never watch them again.

Saw (2004)

I very much enjoyed this series of movies, even through some of the most squirm-inducing things I've ever seen on the big screen.

f*cked up for sure. I think I only watched the first one and that was enough for me. Michelle RP.

the level of intelligence, forethought and stalking/knowledge of his victims that John Kramer (Tobin Bell) had made it terrifying. The psychological aspect of his traps - personalized in some way for each victim - are what real nightmares are made of. The creative team and the writers of the franchise did an amazing job of mixing reality and horror to create possibly the most prolific serial killer on screen. Ashley E.

Rotten Tomatoes: 50% Audience Score: 84%

Strangeland (1998)

To the best of my knowledge, this is the only movie that stars Twisted Sister lead singer, Dee Snider, and that's probably a good thing.

Never ever again. Hope B.

Rotten Tomatoes: 6% Audience Score: 63%

Orphan (2009)

The word "sleazy" gets used a lot when people talk about this film. There's something dark behind young Esther's face.

[...] I really liked the first one, but it's a one and done type of movie for me. Too many times I covered my eyes lol. Emily M.

Rotten Tomatoes: 58% Audience Score: 63%

Hostel (2005)

Hostel. After the eyeball scene. Aaron P.

When I was a teenager, anytime someone said they were going to spend some time "backpacking through Europe", I remember how cool I always thought that sounded. What a fun adventure. NOPE! Not after I saw this film

Rotten Tomatoes: 59% Audience Score: 53%

Human Centipede (2009)

This is the most grotesque of these 9 movies. A tremendously disgusting surgical horror film.

[...] I watched it and you are definitely lucky you didn't. Kristin K.

[...] I don't need those horrible nightmares. Sarah M.

Rotten Tomatoes: 49% Audience Score: 25%

The Hills Have Eyes (2006 Remake)

The gore was most definitely cranked all the way up for this remake of the original 1977 film.

The Exorcist (1973)

Hands down, one of the scariest movies of all time. This is where my dislike of demon-possession movies began.

That DVD cover above is the original movie poster and the image that is burned into most memories. That cover was updated, and I think it does a better job of giving you an idea of how messed up that girl and this movie really are.

Cape Fear (1991 Remake)

[...] I wanted to be a lawyer... but that movie made me change my mind REAL QUICK!

A film's genre is irrelevant when it involves Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro. Even better when DeNiro is playing a terrifying character.

Rotten Tomatoes: 74% Audience Score: 77%

The last movie on this list is the one that I won't be able to watch again. It was an especially windy night when I watched this movie on the couch by myself. It wasn't that far into the movie that I first started hearing noises outside my house that weren't normal and it only enhanced the creepy feeling I was getting from the movie.

The Strangers (2008)

The Strangers definitely, I wouldn’t be able to watch in the evening hours. Once for that horror flick was enough! Anne P.

This film has that 'this could really happen' vibe all over it and I think that's why I can't watch it again. The movie is based on true events and while I have no idea what parts of this movie are close to what actually happened, it feels like the entire movie was going to play out in my own house while I watched.

Rotten Tomatoes: 48% Audience Score: 48%

Like any list, I'm sure we've missed some others. Please follow the Facebook link below and tell us the movie you couldn't imagine being terrified by a second time.
