The summer program guide from the Rockford Park District is officially here, and if you have a child, teen, or adult in your family who benefits from Therapeutic Recreation programs, this is one to mark on your calendar.

The Therapeutic Recreation Summer 2026 Program Guide is available now online and will soon be available at Park District Customer Service locations. Inside, you’ll find programs running June through August, including social activities, sports, buddy sports, fitness, arts, leisure programs, and more… all designed for individuals with disabilities.

Registration opens Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. You can register online or in person at the UW Health Sports Factory downtown or Carlson Ice Arena. Registration forms are also included in the guide.

If you’re planning to sign up, I’d strongly suggest being ready right at 9 a.m.

The Park District’s trained Therapeutic Recreation staff assess each participant and provide the appropriate level of support to help make every experience successful and meaningful.

Regional Partnership and July Bowling Tournament

Rockford is also part of the Northlands Association for Special Recreation (NASR), partnering with Belvidere and Freeport. The guide includes details about NASR’s July bowling tournament in Cherry Valley for ages 8 and older.

There’s also information on installment payment plans and the Help Me Play fee assistance program.
