Actor Dennis Quaid Coming to Dixon For ‘Reagan’ Film Premiere
I always thought I was what I considered a "movie guy."
I'm usually on top of hearing about films being cast, produced, and released.
So, you can imagine my shock and disappointment when I found myself standing outside a movie theater in Anchorage, Alaska, and saw a poster—for the first time, mind you—advertising a movie called Reagan starring Dennis Quaid.
For some background, I'm not from Dixon, but my family moved there after graduating high school.
Ronald Reagan's legendary status in that city is not lost on me, so I was surprised I missed the news that Dennis Quaid would star in a biopic about the actor turned-president.
While Dixon isn't Reagan's birthplace, it's where he spent his formative years and is considered his hometown, making him the city's most famous former resident.

Anyway, fast-forward to this week, when the unexpected news is that Dennis Quaid, who plays Ronald Reagan in the film, will be in Dixon for what WIFR calls a "red-carpet premiere event."
Set to take place on Thursday, August 22, there will be a "citywide parade" where the route will wrap up at the Dixon Historic Theater for the flick's premiere.
