Dating isn't easy in Illinois, but being scammed by a fake lover over a dating app makes finding a true love connection even more heartbreaking.

In a world of digital dating, people want to feel safe using Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, and OkCupid.  AI has gotten so advanced to the point where people are making fake profiles to match with real people and tug at their heartstrings... and bank accounts.

If you're using any sort of dating app, make sure the person you're talking to is a real person.  If someone's profile looks "too good to be true", their pictures don't seem legitimate, or the person you've matched with starts asking you for money, RUN.

Beware Of Extremely Dangerous Dating Scam in Illinois

Times have changed in the world of dating, but your bank account shouldn't be drained just to find love - remember that!  AI is changing the dating game, but not in a good way.

"In a scheme known as pig butchering, fraudsters are using images generated by AI to develop unique dating profiles and trick people into handing over their money. In 2022 alone, romance scams resulted in victims losing $1.3 billion, according to the the US Federal Trade Commission." [BNNBLOOMBERG]

Because of this AI scam circulating dating apps, there's a new process Tinder has unveiled to protect their app users in the future.

The new process will require users to provide a video selfie and valid Driver's License/Passport to see whether the face in the video selfie matches the photo on your ID and photos uploaded to your profile.

"Tinder announces it will be expanding the ID Verification option to users in the US, UK, Brazil, and Mexico, which serves as an additional step for users to help confirm the authenticity of profiles, focusing on date of birth and likeness. To help users confirm the authenticity of profiles, Tinder plans to make this feature available in the US and Mexico by summer and in the UK and Brazil by spring." [newswire]

Honestly, this should give dating app users some peace of mind that they are truly matching with a real person also looking for a genuine connection.
