December and January are the peak months in Illinois when home fires happen the most.  Here's one way to prevent the next house fire in town.

Let's take extra precautions this winter and make sure we blow out candles before we leave the house, keep space heaters away from anything flammable, and check any electrical cords for wear and tear.  All of these are great ways to ensure a safe home this holiday season.

Illinoisans, Turn Off This Potential Fire Hazard In Your Home

If your Christmas tree lights are left on for drivers to enjoy as they pass by your house, it might not be the best idea to keep the lights on all night long.

Christmas tree lights should not be left on for prolonged periods of time or overnight. Even LED lights can overheat, and with a combination of a dry Christmas tree, could cause a fire. Make it a habit to turn off your Christmas lights every time you leave the house or go to bed at night. [rockethomes]
