In a new study by Pizzello, the so-called "artisans of pizza" ranked the 250 Best Cities for Pizza in 2024.

I am glad to see ten different Illinois cities on the list, but I have to take issue with a few of their decisions.

First and foremost, Illinois didn't have one city in the top 10. I mean, where is Chicago? Rockford?

Tulsa (OK), Peoria (AZ), Jonesboro (AR), Fullerton (CA), and Iowa City (IA) all were ranked higher than the Windy City.

On this strange list, Chicago is somehow called the 11th-best pizza city in the US.

So yes, Chicago is listed as the best pizza city in Illinois. I know that's not a shocker, but see where the rest of the state's towns rank and see if you're not surprised.

Left off the top 10 are significant cities like Elgin, Springfield, and, most shockingly, Joliet.

According to the World Population Review, Joliet is considered the fourth-largest city in Illinois but not one of the ten best pizza places in the state. Weird.
