Wisconsin Schools Have One Of The Worst Bullying Problems
It's unfortunate that bullying is still an issue in our society. Kids continue to tease and harm other kids and in 2023, it's worse with technology and social media.
States like Illinois have actually created a law to prevent physical, verbal, and cyber-bullying. But schools in other states continue to have a really bad bullying problem like Wisconsin.
States With Schools That Have Bullying Under Control
We know that not every school in these states has bullying solved. If they did, bullying wouldn't exist in American schools anymore. All the laws and rules could be made, but we know that bullying will unfortunately continue in schools.
Data can show us schools in states that have the biggest bullying problem thanks to WalletHub. They compared the states across three dimensions including bullying prevalence, bullying impact and treatment, and anti-bullying laws.
These are the top three states that have the smallest bullying problems:
3. Rhode Island
2. Massachusetts
1. Delaware
Wisconsin Has A Really Bad Bullying Problem
On the other end of the list from WalletHub are the states that have the biggest bullying problems. One of those states in the top 10 is Wisconsin. To be exact, Wisconsin has the 8th worst bullying problem.
While Wisconsin may have some of the best schools in the country, they really need to get their bullying problem under control.
The Wisconsin state government has tried its best to put laws into place to prevent cyberbullying and other bullying. But the prevalence of bullying in Wisconsin is high. While Wisconsin excels in bullying impact and treatment, WalletHub found the state's anti-bullying laws not to be that good.
Iowa Needs To Work On Solving Its Bullying Problem
We can't throw Wisconsin completely under the bus. Iowa has the 13th worst bullying problem but Iowa's cyberbullying is really out of control.
Iowa ranks as having the 5th worst cyberbullying problem in the U.S. The prevalence of bullying is also high in Iowa and the anti-bullying laws aren't that great either.
