A Small Town With a Long History

New Harmony, Indiana is a small town with a lot of history.  New Harmony is a national historic landmark and was first settled over 200 years ago.

Settled in 1814, New Harmony was first a spiritual sanctuary for the Harmonie Society and then a haven for international scientists and scholars led by Robert Owen in 1825.

With a history dating back more than two centuries ago, you know there has to be some interesting and even spooky history there too.

Haunted New Harmony

Haunted New Harmony has a passion for sharing chilling tales and ghost stories from the New Harmony area.  They often host ghost walks, where you can tour the town and learn some of the darker and creepier history of New Harmony.  Haunted New Harmony also often hosts paranormal investigations at historic locations, and they're inviting the public to join an investigation of the historic Rybeyre Gymnasium.

The Ribeyre Gymnasium

The Ribeyre Gymnasium is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, so it's only appropriate that its 100th year is marked with a paranormal investigation from local paranormal experts, Haunted New Harmony.  Now certain places inside of the Ribeyre Gymnasium may look familiar to you, as it was used as a filming location for A League of Their Own.

History: The Ribeyre Gymnasium was built in 1924 to provide the local school with a facility for sporting activities. It was extensively renovated within the past ten years, with the renovation budget topping over a million dollars. It is a bright sun-lit space with gleaming golden floors and soaring ceilings. It is the site of many weddings, banquets and receptions, having the capacity to seat 600 people. It was even used for filming several scenes of the 1992 movie A League of Their Own.

According to Haunted New Harmony, this is a very active location for the paranormal, and many people have claimed to see a full-body apparition during their last paranormal investigation.
