Nearly every household has the "higher education" discussion at one time or another.

It was a fairly brief conversation in my house with my mom and dad that concluded with them shaking their heads and wondering if I would ever leave the house...because no universities were interested in my attendance.

For generations, many parents assumed that sending their son or daughter to an out-of-state university was the surest path to a world-class education and a successful career. But according to the latest Best Global Universities rankings from U.S. News & World Report, Illinois families don't have to look very far to find some of the best higher education opportunities on the planet.
