There are two different Illinois bed-and-breakfasts that have wildly different styles and histories and exist in completely different parts of the state, but there is one important thing they now have in common. Both were just voted by travelers as being among the top 10 in America.

There are few reader polls more prestigious than those shared by USA Today. After taking nominations for the best bed-and-breakfast stops in America, their audience has been voting for weeks and the results include not one, but two Illinois places.

Coming in at #10 is a Chicago bed-and-breakfast called The Publishing House. It's a very modern place as you might expect from the big city.

The #5 best bed and breakfast in America is The Vrooman Mansion in Bloomington, Illinois. It's a more than 150 year old home that is rich with history and the character that it was built with more than a century ago. 19th century Illinois charm indeed.

It's quite an accomplishment for Illinois to land 20% of the best bed and breakfast awards in America from two wildly different approaches to accommodation in two different areas of the Land of Lincoln.
