Horrific Video Released Of The Stabbings On Wisconsin’s Apple River
On July 30, 2022, a confrontation between 54-year-old Nicolae Miu and a group of young adults on the Apple River in Wisconsin turned deadly when Miu pulled a folding knife from his pocket.
FOX 9 is reporting that court records show that Miu used the knife to stab four people, fatally wounding 17-year-old Issac Schuman, near the Sunrise Bridge in Somerset, Wisconsin.
What Happened On July 30, 2022, On The Apple River?
According to the timeline, Nicolae Miu and his wife Sondra went to the Apple River to meet friends and float down the river. According to what Sondra would later tell police, a member of their group lost their cell phone on the river and Nicolae left the group to try to find it using "scuba gear".
At 3:44 p.m., Miu is carrying goggles with a snorkel attached when he approaches a younger group tubing down the river. The tubers tell Miu to "Get away."
Things Turn Violent And Then Deadly
The group then accuses Miu of "looking for little girls", which draws a larger group to the scene, escalating the situation as multiple people begin yelling at Miu and at least one person touches his shoulder.
As the encounter escalated, there were reports that he punched a female on the left side of her face before Miu was punched, and then the stabbings took place.
Witnesses began calling 911 at 3:47 p.m. and when authorities arrived they found a 24-year-old woman from Burnsville, Minnesota, a 20-year-old and 22-year-old man from Luck, Wisconsin, and a 22-year-old man from Elk River, Minnesota had been injured in the attack.
Issac Schuman, a teen from Stillwater, Minnesota, suffered fatal stab wounds. Nicolae Miu would be charged with first-degree intentional homicide and multiple counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

On Monday, April 1, Nicolae Miu went on trial for charges that could send him to prison for life if he is convicted.

According to the criminal complaint, Miu claimed the attack was self-defense. He said he was "so fearful" for his safety, adding he wasn't sure what the people in the river were going to do to him, and "everything happened so fast."
