Usually when things are picked up on radar, they are large. Airplanes or maybe the gap between David Letterman's front teeth, but an insect? How about a swarm of mayflies? Looking at the radar and using my best powers of estimation, I would guess there was between a zillion and kajillion individual insects in the swarm.

Driving through these swarms is no fun. The bugs are attracted to lights, so street lamps are perfect magnets for these swarms. As cars run them over they leave behind a gross green slime that is very slippery. During the latest mayfly swarm, one accident caused by dead bugs on the road sent one person to the hospital. I can't imagine what it would be like if you were riding a motorcycle.
