Is Illinois Adding Stoplights on I-90? Tap the Brakes, This is Crazy.

This stretch of highway USUALLY runs pretty smooth. Sure, weekends and holidays add extra traffic but what in the world is the state of Illinois considering?

It's not a common practice to insert any sort of "stop signs" or stop lights" on such a long, open drive of highway...but it looks like we are heading this way.

The yielding with the ramps, the slow down as you hit a toll area, isn't that enough of a brake check? On any given day, you can be cruising along at 80+ with nothing in your way on I-90. To add a stop light would be quite the sudden change and I don't know how safe that would be.

While traveling towards Rockford yesterday (as you can tell by the signage) I passed this in the MIDDLE of I-90. I thought it was odd...odd location, odd suggestion, odd placement. Just odd.

I guess IDOT and the State of Illinois has a different idea for slowing traffic and controlling the speed limit? Seriously consider the taxes made off of the legal weed...Maybe something a little less abrupt could have been developed? Something more high tech and less terrifying. I'm just riffing here...

What do you think about a stoplight on I-90? Is this safe, is this worth the tax money to install? Do you think it would control the whole "speeding" thing?
