93-year-old Ray Schmuecker of Petersburg, Iowa never thought he would see his wedding ring again when it disappeared in 70s.

"[My wife] was kind of broken about me losing it, so she [went] right into the town and [came] home with another wedding ring with several diamonds in it exactly like the one I lost," Ray told KCRG.

Now he has two rings after his original popped up in the most unlikely of places.

Ray previously owned a 1972 Oldsmobile which he sold last summer for scrap. A man who lives thirty miles away bought it for its motor, Will Frye wanted to replace the engine in his 1969 Oldsmobile.

As Will was dismantling the vehicle, he found something peculiar: a wedding ring sitting on top of the engine. When he called the previous owner to tell him about the discovery, Ray instantly asked, "Does it have diamonds?"

Ray sent his daughter to Dubuque to retrieve the ring as soon as possible.
