You might have made some assumptions reading that headline, but after watching that short video I feel kind of bad for the driver.

ChicagoTribune - According to a preliminary investigation, at around 3 p.m. on Thursday, McAtee allegedly allowed three students to drive her bus as they dropped students off after school.

The three students took turns driving a short distance each down Lourdes Street in the Lake Eliza area, Biggs said, and other students on the bus witnessed the students driving. Police are not releasing the names of the juveniles.

Alright, let's get some things out of the way. A BUS DRIVER SHOULD NEVER ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO DRIVE THE BUS. Have I made that clear enough? Outside of some severe Speed type situation where the bus has to stay above 50 and the driver has been critically injured, the kids should 100% stay out of the driver's seat.

But let's also be honest here, as a kid how cool would this be? It seemed safe-ish. They were on a country road. She was apparently giving some decent instruction. I mean we let drivers ed teachers teach students how to drive, this is loosely related. Now, drivers ed teachers are certified and their pupils usually aren't 11 years old, but that's only a few degrees of separation.

I guess what I'm saying is that this lady should absolutely not be driving students anywhere but when it comes to gross negligence on the job, she's not even in the team photo.

Have you ever driven a bus? I haven't. The power looks intoxicating. It just went to her head. If I'm her I use the Constanza defense and just claim ignorance.

Even if that fails, you can at least go out on a high note.
