A woman in Palos Park, Illinois is a hero after talking a stranger out of jumping.

Life or death situations.

It's not something that should be taken lightly. Nor should it be something that should be ignored.

I can't imagine how I would react in this situation. Would I be too oblivious to notice what was happening? Would I have thought to myself, not my problem, and walked away? I have no idea. But I'm thankful for this woman in Palos Park, where what she did was not only brave, but beautiful.

Grief hits us all differently. A 19-year-old man was quite distraught over the death of a sibling, according to The Patch.

He stood at the bridge near the 8200 block of West 123rd Street and was ready to jump into the path of an oncoming train.

A woman, who just got off the train, noticed him and walked up to him and said three simple words. "Are you O.K.?"

This brought on a conversation where she was able to persuade him to go to the hospital with her.

The man was brought to the hospital safely and all should be well again soon.

I can not even begin to imagine the bravery, the kindness and the compassion of this woman. She must be a guardian angel.

What would you have done? Would you have even noticed this man?
