Illinois Tollway Goes All-Electronic Tolling Due To Coronavirus
Trying to stop the spread of the coronavirus is no easy task and the Illinois Tollway is doing what it can to hold it off.
Over the weekend the Illinois Tollway temporarily switched to all-electronic tolling to do their part.
Automatic tolls at the ramp are also deactivated, but here's the best part according to illinoistollway.com:
During this time, grace period tolling will be extended and violations will be held through the duration of these toll plaza service interruptions. Toll collection will be entirely handled via I-PASS, E-ZPass and through the Tollway’s online payment portal. I-PASS and E-ZPass customers will see no impact to their day-to-day travel.
That means if you haven't paid the tolls you're getting some extra time to do so.
It's a small step but bravo to the Illinois Tollway taking preventive measures to limit the exposure of the coronavirus.
