Life isn't always easy, we all know this. More often than not we encounter obstacles that try our patience, strength, and determination, and sometimes these hard moments bring out the best in us.
We recently received a nomination letter from a Forreston High School student named Travis Wood about his Dad, and we automatically knew we had found our next Hometown Hero. The words Travis wrote about his Dad Marcus nearly brought me to tears, but it also showed this family has been dealt some unbearable heartache but still managed to overcome it. Here is what Travis wrote about his Dad;
My dad is the most amazing guy and he is my hero cause back in November of 2017 we lost my 19 year old brother and his son. In that time period of him being gone, my dad has been helping people in a rehab center. He was strong enough to stay in the fire department, and he was also strong enough to get his EMT license back. Overall he is pretty much the strongest person I know, and he deserves every bit of what he could possibly get.
Marcus, it sounds like you are the backbone of your family, and we would like to award your unrelenting strength with a $100 Amazon gift card from our friends at Gustafson's Furniture & Mattress. We hope that you will use it to buy something that makes YOUR day a bit brighter.
If someone in your life has overcome major hurdles, or goes out of their way to make someone else's day better, please tell us their story now, here.
