Illinois Teacher Praised by Mom for What She Took Away from Her Child
Every parent has a moment in their child's first few years of school where we just want a small miracle to occur. It did, in this 2nd grade teacher's classroom.
Every week, I have the pleasure of honoring Stateline area teachers for the wonderful connections they're making with families.
What's even more gratifying is that we wouldn't even know about many of the great things going on in these classrooms if it weren't for the students and parents sending in these great nomination letters.
Congratulations to 97 ZOK's New Teacher Of The Week
This week, we're honoring Mrs. Amy Estvander from Prairie Hill School in South Beloit, Illinois.
Amy was nominated by Misty Gloyd, whose daughter is in Mrs. Estvanders 2nd grade class. Misty's letter mentions how wonderful it felt to see this 'thing' taken away from her daughter.
Before this school year my daughter did not want any part of school. I am not sure if the COVID rules and new expectations made her little second grade self nervous, but I will tell you my daughter now asks to go to sleep EARLY because she is so excited to see her teacher and new friends the next day. She has made my daughter so relaxed, so excited to do homework, and so excited to learn. With everything going on in the world today, I am truly thankful my daughter gets to experience such a great teacher. Thank you Mrs. Estvander! You rock!
Oh, that 'thing'... school anxiety. Replaced with joy.
Nice job, Mrs. Estvander!
As a 97ZOK Teacher Of The Week, Mrs. Estvander was surprised with a beautiful floral arrangement from Broadway Florist and a delicious cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes.
