Illinois’ Smallest Town is Only 70 Miles From Rockford
A town of 204 people is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Rockford.
You think you grew up in a small town? Can you even call it a town? I'm pretty sure it's a settlement. I'm sure it wasn't as small as this one!
I don't think I have what it takes to grow up in a small town. I enjoy the convenience of the corner store a block away, the grocery store at the end of the block and having wonderful neighbors surrounding me.
In this little town, it is guaranteed you know everyone's name. After all, there aren't many people there.
Between Rochelle and Davenport there is a sweet tiny little town named Hooppole.
Here, the population is a whopping 204 people, up from 162 at the 2000 census according to Wikipedia.

There isn't a McDonalds, a Target, or even a library. But the town does boast a Vern's Farm Supply, a church and the city office.
The town is less than a mile wide. Imagine doing your daily walk! You will pass not only all of your neighbors, but you will cross right into each surrounding town.
There are only 45 families and 61 homes in Hooppole. How amazing.
