After using CBD, a school bus driver in Illinois fails her drug test and is fired.

This is not the first and it won't be the last time we will hear a story like this one. In fact, I believe there will be even more after recreational marijuana becomes legal in Illinois on January 1st, 2020. The big issue is how do cannabis use and the workplace fit together? The sad thing about this particular incident, it involved CBD and not actual weed.

According to abc7chicago.com,

"Missy Barton drove a school bus for District 301 in Kane County for 13 years. That job came to an abrupt end in June 2018 after she flunked her company drug test, a screening she had scheduled as part of her mandated bus license renewal. She doesn't drink or smoke, and she has never used illegal drugs. But she had taken hemp oil capsules for back pain relief."

Some CBD products will contain a very small amount of THC. That could cause a failed drug test. If you have a job where you get dropped, please be careful.
