The key is not letting your personal info to become an open book. Never throw away important documents, especially if they include account numbers, social security numbers, or anything else you don't want in someone else's hands.

The best way to protect that info is by shredding the documents. It's a lot of work and can take time that you might not have. Shredding events are a help but like anything else, you have to be very careful they don't get in the wrong hands.

WAND

Here's where the new scam comes into play. Thieves are hosting shredding events that are fake. They just want to steal your important info. It just happened down in Springfield. If you're going to attend one of those events to get rid of your records, make sure it's on the up and up and with a credible organization. Otherwise, someone can steal your life.
