I know I'm going to date myself with this information but that's okay. I remember when I was growing up, we didn't have any of these fancy smartphones. I didn't even have a landline in my bedroom. If I wanted to make a call, I had to use the one mounted on the kitchen wall and sit at the table.

Nowadays, pretty much everyone from kids to grandparents has their own cell phone. That thing goes with them everywhere. It's like the device is attached to their hand. When I say everywhere, I mean everywhere including in the bathroom when they go number two.

I'll admit when I have to spend some serious time in the bathroom, I'll bring my phone with me to help pass the time. The experts say that you shouldn't use it on the toilet. First of all because of all the germs. Secondly, people are sitting on the throne for too long and it harms your digestive system.

How many people in Rockford bring their cell phones into the bathroom with them? I recently conducted a survey and 60% use it on the toilet. I was surprised because I thought it would be more. The number for Illinois is 75% which seems more like it.

Here are some more interesting stats. 80% of men and only 69% of women bring their phones into the bathroom. The majority of the people are scrolling on social media while on the toilet. For the users 23 and under, 96% won't go to the restroom with their cell.

Cell phones are known to be 10 times dirtier than a toilet seat. Only 1 in 7 people will actually clean their phone. I might start thinking twice about bringing my cell into the bathroom anymore.
