If you enjoy going to the beach, there's no reason to drive to Florida because one of the best in the United States is located in Illinois.

If you want me to experience my happy place, all you have to do is take me to a nice beach for the day, and I'll be fine. In fact, my whole family loves going to the beach. It's so relaxing. My dream is to live on a beach someday.

Every summer, our family vacation is to the Gulf side of Florida to spend a week on the beach. It's one of my favorite things we do every year. This summer, I have decided to spend more time on the beach, so I've been looking for good ones in Illinois, and I've found a hidden gem in the Land of Lincoln.

Sunrise Beach offers a stunning sandy shoreline along Lake Michigan.

 

There are always two lifeguarded swimming beaches, two covered areas with fireplaces, charcoal grills, restroom facilities, complimentary games, and beach chairs, as well as Kayak rentals.

 

Entry to the beach is free to Park District Residents with a pass, and non-residents can access the beach for a daily fee of $10 per person.

Did our neighbors to the north have any beaches on the list? In fact, yes, Wisconsin did make the ranking. Sitting at number 55 is Big Bay Beach on Madeline Island. By the way, the Illinois beach is ranked 54th. I'm quite surprised they didn't have any more because I've heard of plenty of great beaches on the other side of the Cheddar Curtain.
